Julia Chaney is Senior Vice President of Capitol Hill Consulting Group, a mid-sized, Washington, DC-based, government relations firm dedicated to providing comprehensive and individually tailored strategies to meet the diverse needs of its clients. Ms. Chaney’s expertise includes appropriations, education, health care, energy, and economic development issues. Ms. Chaney’s experience also includes representation of local governments – large and small, urban and rural. In 2000, the Congressional Black Caucus Political Education and Leadership Institute (CBC Institute) launched its’s premier event, the annual Tunica, Mississippi Policy Conference in Tunica, Mississippi. For more than 15 years, Ms. Chaney served as the Coordinator for the event – – which brought Members of the Congressional Black Caucus together with community development and labor professionals, and representatives from the corporate and business community.
Before joining Capitol Hill Consulting Group, Ms. Chaney was with R. Duffy Wall & Associates, Inc., where she served as the assistant to the firm’s founder, and later, as Vice President. Her career includes working on the personal staff of Congressman Charles O. Whitley (D-NC), who served as a member of the House Agriculture and Armed Services Committees. In that position, she worked on labor compensation, social security, veterans’ affairs, and urban affairs issues.
Ms. Chaney holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Livingstone College, Salisbury, North Carolina.
A native of North Carolina, Ms. Chaney currently resides in Maryland with her husband, Winston Chaney.
